Create sentences and stories... by rolling dice!

Soft Touch™ Dice: Sentence Building Complete Set
'' Practice building sentences by rolling word dice, putting them in order, and recording the sentences that are built. Set 1 focuses on simple sentences while Set 2 adds additional parts of speech to build more complex sentences. The color-coded dice help players recognize parts of speech and word order, which support English Language Learners. '' [source]

What a great idea. It shouldn't be difficult to make something similar perhaps simpler, DIY style ;)
Just print a template for dice [source]:
and customize the faces!

Another approach is to write parts of a fairy tale and use the dice to create custom/random stories, like explained here:
''You can inspire and encourage the inner story-teller in your child with this activity by having him create Fairy Tale Dice! All you need are some Styrofoam cubes, markers, and adhesive paper, and you'll have dice with story elements to play around with. Just roll the dice and sit back, as your child weaves his own innovative and adventurous story. ''
And instead of styrofoam dice you can also use the template above, or even, if you like online apps, there is this totally free dice roller, which generates perfectly random results, simulating 1 or many dice: http://www.random.org/dice/. The authors of the website describe it in this way: "Our mission is to produce the highest quality true random numbers and make them available to the world in useful forms." ... cool!
